When a client comes in with lashes that are thin, short or gappy. It can be very difficult and frustrating. There are multiple ways to still make a hard clients lashes look good. We have a previous blog about matured lashes and that can help too.
Brittle & Thin lashes
Brittle lashes are very weak. They cannot hold much of weight and will most likely break the natural lash or just pop off. The best trick with brittle lashes is to make very thin narrow fans . classics wont last long, but you can create fans to look like classics. When you create a handmade fan the glue is still wet so that gives the extension time to wrap around the natural lashe, giving more attachment points. If you make the fan too heavy it won't last long. Do not use long lengths , this will cause unnecessary weight. Explain to your client you can only do so much and we can work out a way to get longer and fuller lashes with a lash serum. Just educate your client and make them want to trust you . Remember you are the professional and they believe what you say.
Handling Mature lashes
The older clients have lashes that are very weak. You need to use the thinnest lash size or else the lashes will droopy down, snap off or pop off. For classic lashes use 0.15's and volume lashes use 0.05 for the best retention. If you use the heavier lash extensions like classic 0.18's and volume 0.03's your chances of them staying will be very slim. Another tip for the mature clientele is to highly recommend a lash serum! If a matured client comes back with no lashes after a classic full set , recommend a volume set and make very thin narrow fans and assure them just because its a volume set doesn't mean it will be thick and dark. When you make your own volume fans the glue is still wet when you make it and the fan will wrap around the natural lash, giving more attachment points instead of one single laying on the natural.
