Sometimes you have a client that constantly has build up , yellow crusties, glue from false lashes, etc . Here are a couple tips on how to talk to your clients about properly shampooing.
How to bring up the topic
Clients sometimes come in with all sorts of build up and some clients say " I washed my lashes" when you can clearly see they have not. Typically if a client has build up , it's from a step in there daily routine that they are in a habit of. When it comes to mascara , the black clumps or they have yellow crusties, yes its gross but it's possible.
Start off by asking .
" how often do you shampoo?"
" Do you wear a full face of makeup on a daily?"
~ typically if the build up is black and goopy, they are putting mascara on or false lashes on top of the extensions. So off that note, start off by saying...
" Did you put mascara on inbetween fills?"
~ if they say no it could be eyeliner build up and then hint towards that,
" do you use eyeliner?" - if they say yes then recommend extension safe eyeliner to avoid clumps or make sure your client goes home with a angled cleaning brush. " mermaid brushes" to really help get in the creases.
Regular clients with build up
If you have a client that has been coming for years it should be easy to talk with them about a deeper clean. Just end the service with a small conversation while they are drying,
" so I noticed that you have had some build up after a few appointments and I would recommend going home with a fluffy brush today to really help getting a thorough clean. Still be gentle but go in circular motions on your water line to help loosen up the build up"
9/10 they listen because what you say is informative and they trust you. Remember YOU ARE THE PROFESSIONAL! But off that note, if it is a one time occurrence, just tell your client " you have some build up today I'll take it off but just make sure your cleaning good and then if they ask on tips , you would explain what was said earlier.
Clients who don't listen
Sometimes you will get clients who absolutely do not listen to any advice. It is your job to scare them on hygiene with extensions. Now when I say scare, I mean tell your client all the bad possible outcomes of not having clean lashes.
